The Public Health Unit has been notified that one person with measles was infectious when they made multiple visits to Ashfield Mall between 23 and 27 April. Anyone who is susceptible to measles is at risk of developing the illness.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that causes fever, cough and conjunctivitis followed by a rash a few days later.
Many people in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s are susceptible, even if they are immunised, as many people born after 1966 have only had a single MMR shot. Unimmunised children are also at high risk if exposed.
If you are displaying symptoms of measles please contact us on 9699 1491 and inform the staff, as you may have to be isolated when you visit the practice for testing.
