What is MyMedicare?

My Medicare is a voluntary patient registration system that aims to formalise the relationship between patients, their general practice, general practitioner (GP) and primary care teams. It is Voluntary and free- and your registration to a clinic can be withdrawn or changed at any time.

Am I eligible to register?

You are eligible to register for MyMedicare if you have:

– A Valid Medicare Card or DVA Veteran Care and;
– Have had two face-to-face appointments with your selected practice in the previous 24 months.

Benefits of Registering for MyMedicare

By registering in MyMedicare, you may benefit from:

– A formalised relationship with your general practice or GP, which has been shown to improve health outcomes.
– Longer telehealth consultations with your GP, that attract a higher Medicare rebate.
– Ongoing access to specific Medicare Item Numbers for patients with Chronic Disease
– Connections to more appropriate care in general practice for people who visit hospital frequently, from mid-2024

How can I register?

Patients can register:

– Via the Medicare App on your smartphone or tablet
– Via your MyGov Account on your web-browser
